French Girl Skincare Essentials

If this is your first time creating a skincare routine, then here are the basic essentials you’ll need to start taking care of your skin.

Having smooth, spotless, glowing, and wrinkle-free skin feels fantastic and boosts your self-esteem. People around the world admire French women’s ability to maintain glowing and healthy skin throughout their lives.

Radiant skin comes with work, though. Getting into a French beauty store can be a challenge if you don’t live in France. There are also numerous summer beauty products claiming to improve your skin.

If you don’t speak French, it can be difficult to figure out the best French skincare products that suit your skin. That’s why I’m going to share the French skincare essentials that you can buy in the US today!

If you are a beginner looking to learn a few French skincare tips, the following skincare essentials are crucial.

Cleanser

Our skin gets dirty from environmental pollutants every day, especially if you live in a big city like Paris. Removing these pollutants daily is a wise decision which is why you need a face cleanser as part of your skincare essentials. It is important to use a gentle French face wash on your skin to remove oil, dirt, dead skin, and makeup. Cleansing the face helps in unclogging your pores and eliminating flaky skin.

French facial cleansers come in different types, including milky, foaming, gel, and micellar water. A proper cleanser should not make your skin feel dry, irritated, or uncomfortable.

Select a French face wash according to your skin type: oily, dry, or normal.

  • Best French Face Wash for Dry Skin: La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Facial Cleanser
  • Best French Face Wash for Oily Skin: Caudalie Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser
  • Best French Face Wash for Normal to Combination Skin: Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel
Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel

Most French dermatologists recommend cleansing your face once in the morning and once again in the evening.

Serum

Serum is a French girl skincare essential we all need. Serums provide highly concentrated amounts of nutrients and vitamins to the skin. Serums act as an invisible shield protecting your skin from dehydration, pollution, and damage that causes premature aging. They allow for better absorption of your face cream.

Don’t know where to start? Try the cult classic Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Dark Spot Serum.

Depending on what you choose, a serum could reduce wrinkles and fine lines on your skin, prevent acne, treat sun spots, or brighten your complexion. In most cases, the price of a serum can be a bit high, but this skincare essential is totally worth it!

Moisturizer

The next French skincare essential is all about hydration. A good French facial moisturizer will keep your skin plump and happy all day long. Once you complete your face wash and apply a serum, the final step to your morning skincare should be moisturizing the skin.

Go for the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer, suitable for most skin types.

No matter what your skin condition, it’s important for the skin to remain hydrated throughout the day. Moisturizers build a barrier between your skin and the climate hence helping it retain water. The right ingredients in moisturizers can suit any complexion and minimize your chances of having a skin problem like acne.

Toner

Toner is a fantastic skincare product often overlooked by people who don’t know any better. Apply a toner immediately after removing your makeup and cleansing your skin at night. Toners remove any remaining dirt or makeup that your makeup remover or cleanser missed. Toners also prepare your skin to receive the next treatment you are about to apply such as a nighttime cream.

French women love the rose-scented Lancôme Tonique Confort Hydrating Toner with Hyaluronic Acid.

In addition to using a good makeup remover, ensure you use a toner to gently wipe around your face and neck. Make sure your toner is alcohol-free to protect your skin from dryness or irritation. It can be followed up with your moisturizer in the evening.

Exfoliator

A French exfoliator is the final essential skincare product you must own. The primary purpose of an exfoliator is to remove the surface layer of your skin, hence enhancing its texture. By removing this dead skin layer, younger, and more beautiful skin is revealed.

Try the beloved Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser for an easy routine.

Exfoliators allow the skin to better absorb facial moisturizers and serums. They also allow your facial makeup like foundation and concealer to spread smoothly and evenly on your skin. However, exfoliator should not be used every day but rather done a maximum of once or twice a week.

Face masks and eye creams are nice to have, but these French skincare essentials will do just fine if you want to live as minimally as possible!

According to numerous research studies, the skin starts showing sun damage in your 30s. The reason for this is that the skin’s reparative abilities weaken from this age, leading to dull, brown spots on the surface.

Surprisingly, this damage reflects your past behavior in your 20s. However, taking early action can significantly improve the health outlook of your future skin.

Use the above skincare essentials, develop a suitable French skincare routine, and you will have beautiful and ever-glowing skin in your later years!
